Intermodal terminals are key to access intermodal transport services and thus ensure efficient and road-competitive intermodal supply chains throughout Europe.

The   Intermodal Terminals Working Group was established in 2011 as a result of an EU project.

The approach of this working group is to bring the terminal managers together for

  • The exchange of information and ideas and "common learning" on the respective "good practices" on terminal management,
  • Increase of terminal capacity, and
  • Improving the interaction with intermodal operators, railway undertakings and other intermodal actors.

The acronym  has been selected, since the mode of communication is designed similar to the ancient Greek market place for the exchange of ideas.

More about the work of the Working Group you can find under the "About Us" section and under "News". General information on intermodal terminals can be found under "Terminal basics", and an interactive map of intermodal terminals allover Europe is presented under "Terminal Map" with basic and infrastructure related information for each intermodal terminal.
