Welcome to Agora

Intermodal terminals are key to access intermodal transport services and thus ensure efficient and road-competitive intermodal supply chains throughout Europe (see DIOMIS report on Combined Transport in Europe published by UIC).

Initiated by the ad-hoc working group on intermodal terminals in 2007, boosted by the Marco Polo Common Learning Project in 2009/2010 the terminal managers have now established a permanent platform for collaboration: the Terminal Interest Group AGORA.

The approach of this working group is to bring the terminal managers together for the exchange of information and ideas and “common learning” on the respective “good practices” on terminal management, increase of capacity and improving the interaction with intermodal operators, railway undertakings and other intermodal actors

Since the mode of communication is designed similar to the ancient Greek market place for the exchange of ideas the acronym AGORA has been selected.
